Graham is developing a new retirement village for Audley Group in Scarcroft Park, north of Leeds, to provide 128 apartments in 15 residential blocks, covering 110 acres. Akela Ground Engineering, part of the Akela Group, will supply the pile solutions for the project.

Akela opened a new hub at Moorfield Business Park in Leeds and secured and secured its first contract in Yorkshire last year. The company is currently tendering for a variety of new housing and commercial construction contracts throughout the region.

‘Demonstrate our expertise in piling solutions’

Mark Markey, Akela Group Managing Director, said: “This latest contract win provides a great opportunity to work with Graham and further demonstrate our piling expertise.

“It is also representative of the demand we are seeing for our civil and land engineering services, which has seen us recently win contracts with major homebuilders, with over 2,100 units underway.

“We are also seeing demand for services in other sectors, including retail, energy and more specifically electric vehicle charging stations, having recently completed projects in Oxford and Scotland.

“Our Leeds hub continues to go from strength to strength, and we are excited about the contract prospects in this thriving region of the UK.”

Quality housing for seniors

Jonathan Hall, general manager of the Building South region at Graham, said:

“The new retirement village will provide high quality housing for older people in the Yorkshire region.

“We look forward to working with Akela and the Audley Group to bring this impressive project to fruition.”

Start of work on site in May 2022.
